As you can see, I’m partial to a bit of running. I put this site together mainly as a place to put my race reports, which are have mounted up over the last few years.
I first started running after losing some weight not long after the birth of our twins. I did a local, off-road 10K and loved it. On holiday in Cornwall, I ran on the coastal path and cemented my passion for trail running. During that first year running, I did a few trail and cross-country 10K races. Strange then, that my first marathon was London. I didn’t like it – too many runners, too much noise. One good thing that came out of that experience was starting to train properly, following a plan. I kept the training up after this, barring a few minor injuries. My first ultra marathon was the Doyen of the Downs in Dec 2009 – only my 3rd race of marathon distance or longer. It was tremendous – mud, hills, glorious scenery, and food 🙂
In 2010 I stepped things up much more, running 5 marathons (all off-road) and 5 ultra marathons, including my first multi-day event (the Pilgrim) and London to Brighton (56 miles) in September. In August 2011 I ran my first 100 mile ultra – the North Downs Way 100.
As of February 2014, I’ve run over 80 marathons and ultras, including the Brathay 10 in 10 (10 marathons in 10 days) in May 2012 and the Ice Ultra in Feb 2014. I’m not a regular blogger unfortunately, but I’m trying to improve!
